Which files does RAWVue open?
Camera RAW recordings: Sony ARW, Nikon NEF, Canon CR2 and CR3 (including reduced-size RAW, which keeps its recording dimensions), and Apple ProRAW DNG. Camera JPEGs open too. If your camera isn't listed, send us one sample file and we'll tell you.
How do I open files from a card or a USB-C drive?
- Connect the card reader or drive to the iPhone's USB-C port.
- In Apple Files, go to Browse → Locations and open the external volume.
- In RAWVue, use Open Photos for a whole folder, or More → Choose camera RAW/JPEG in Files to pick single files.
A RAW may show no thumbnail in Files and still open fine in RAWVue; Files only previews formats it knows.
The gallery shows a picture, but is it developed?
A thumbnail in the gallery is the camera's embedded preview. Open the photo and wait for the editor preview: that one is developed from the RAW data, and that's what your adjustments and the export are based on.
Where does the export go, and at what size?
Choose Save to Photos, Save to Files, or share directly to another app. Exports are full resolution: the dimensions of the recording. Your original RAW is never modified.
Do my edits survive closing the app?
Yes. The recipe you applied to a photo is kept and comes back when you reopen it. Reset only clears the edits of the photo you are looking at.
Does RAWVue upload my photos anywhere?
Developing happens on your iPhone. What the app does and doesn't collect is spelled out in the
privacy policy.
